Why a pumped system needs more attention
A gravity system has nothing to fail mechanically. A pumped system has a pump, floats that tell it when to run, and usually an alarm — and any of those can fail while everything above ground looks completely normal.
That is the part worth knowing: on a pumped system, the first sign of trouble is often the alarm, and it is worth treating as urgent rather than as a nuisance. Once the pump stops moving effluent, the tank has nowhere to send it.
